GCSE Further Mathematics – Overview
- GCSE Further Maths is an optional qualification, usually offered to high-attaining students in Years 10–11 who are likely to achieve high grades in GCSE Mathematics.
- It is not available in all schools — exam boards such as AQA and OCR (MEI) provide versions.
- It sits between GCSE and A-Level Mathematics, preparing students for the jump to A-Level.
Grades Explained
GCSE Further Maths has its own grading scale, different from standard GCSE Maths:
- AQA Level 2 Certificate in Further Mathematics is graded from:
9–1 (same as GCSE), but is targeted at Grades 5–9.
